Portraits

2012-2015

One Marathi phrase that I will never forget is "Aaron-tai, mazha photo kad!" This translates to "Sister Aaron, take my photo!" I don't think a day went by during my time in Mulgavhan when I did not hear someone say this. Before moving to Mulgavhan, I worried that my camera would feel intrusive and culturally insensitive. It turned out to be quite the opposite. My camera provided me with a way to more deeply connect with the people of Mulgavhan - it enabled us to transcend language barriers. It is my hope that through these portraits, we all feel a deeper sense of human connection and are better able to relate to each other, across distance.
